Tag Birthday Card!

I am back again with a BIRTHDAY TAG-CARD. Here is a sneak peek..

Tag Birthday Card

It is a birthday card made for a very special friend of mine 'Divya'. We are college buddies and since our college ended February, 2016, we won't be together on her birthday for the first time in 6 years. So I made a card for her, which I am gonna post soon(as she is from J&K). Miss you Dibdi...

Coming to the card, I have used a new technique here known as BOKEH TECHNIQUE. I came to know about it while participating in happily ever crafter's crafty quiz. I am always afraid of using watercolors as they do not blend for me. But this one is really simple and the results are really pretty.
All the elements in this card have been upcycled except for the paper and the water colors.

Firstly, I took a white cardstock and colored it with Bokeh Technique. Then i made the tag again using corrugated sheet from packaging boxes( I just love their texture..after using them for my Friendship shaker tag). For the bg of the tag I used an old gift wrap. To tone down the color I glued an old slightly opaque polythene (tried gesso but it didn't give the desired results). Added a handmade flower and a few leaves( cut out from a magazine). Then used an old net to make a half bow like shape. Added a hand written sentiment with sparkling edge. In place of ribbon in the tag I have used threads (from an old Rakhi). Then attached the tag to the card and embellished it with pearls (from an old garland) and blings (from wedding cards). Finally added some faux stitches. And Tada!! The card is ready.

Friendship Shaker Tag

Good afternoon everyone!

And thank you all for your lovely comments on my Project.

Today I am here with a my first TAG. I am also adding a tute..so there are gonna be many photos.

I know friendship day is long gone by. But I am meeting one of my very special friend tommorow. And since I am learning so many beatiful craft ideas, I thought of making something to show my greatfulness to her for always being there for me.😇

Here is a sneak peak..

Shaker Tag

Tutorial:

 Materials required:
1.A cardstock (any thick old thick sheet in        my case)
2.corrugated cardboard
3.water colors or acrylic paint and brush
4.loose glitter
5.Sequins
6.Embellishments-handmade flowers and a   plastic peacock
7.Foam tape
8.Glue and scissors

Step 1:First of all i took an old booklet's cover(should be stiff) and cut it in shape of a tag.

Step 2:Then i cut a cardboard (the one that we use for packaging purpose) of same size and peeled of its superficial layer to reveal the beautiful corrugations inside.A hole was punched at the top on both of them.

Step 3:The corrugated sheet was glued to the thick tag paper and painted with black acrylic paint. To give it a differnt texture I mixed some glue with the paint. I also sprinkled some glitter over it.

Step 4:Then i took a square piece of paper and colored it salmon pink with ombre effect using acrylic paint and sponge.

I also made a frame , attached cellophane to it and glittered it on the opposite side.

Step 5:Wrote "Friends forever" on the pink paper and made the shaker element with sequins (To know how to make shaker element ,check out this Beautiful tutorial by Craftsy:I used the third way). Now this tag looks like the smaller brother of my Rakhi Card.

Step 6:Finally attached the shaker to the tag and placed a handmade blackish rose over it. Decorated with embellishments.

Today I am back to share some quilling..

Here is the sneak peak..

I have quilled a Tricolour bird using the colors of our national flag. Our national flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya. In the centre was a traditional spinning wheel, symbolising Gandhi's goal of making Indians self-reliant by fabricating their own clothing. The design was then modified to include a white stripe in the centre for other religious communities, and provide a background for the spinning wheel. Subsequently, saffron, white and green were chosen for the three bands, representing courage and sacrifice, peace and truth, and faith and chivalry respectively.

For making this I first downloaded an image from google and copied the outline on a white paper with few changes.Then I quilled on the outline just like we do quillography using 5 mm quilling strips.(For those who are interested in quillography can check out this beautiful tutorial). The inside is filled using beehive technique on 3 mm quilling strips. Then I wrote India and cut out the word. It was quilled on just like the Tricolored bird above). and finally I arranged them in a handmade shadow box.

Good Evening Everyone!

Happy Raksha Bandhan to you all. Rakhi is a festival of India which celebrates the auspicious bond between brothers and sisters.

So today I am gonna share a SHAKER CARD which I have made for my elder brother.

I have tried to keep the card simple. I took a white A4 sheet and folded it. Then I took two small white rectangular pieces of paper and colored them blue giving an ombre effect. On the pieces the message " Because I have a BROTHER, I will always have a FRIEND" was hand written. After pasting them on white sheet I attached the shaker element( sequins and black pearls) over them (Doesnt it look like evening sky with stars). I have also tried some embossing on the sides. Finally decorated the card with black strips and blue punched flowers.

I have recently joined the crafting world. 1 month back hadn't even heard the terms like embossing,die cutting,mixed media etc etc.So you can guess that my list of things I wanna try is very long. In this card I have tried little bit of embossing. I didn't have proper tools. So I used quilling strips and fevi stick cap.😆

Recycled magazine art

Good afternoon friends!

Here is my first post of August..

But before that I wanna Thank you all for leaving such encouraging comments on my last card.

But today's creation is not a card. It is a wall hanging. To create this I recycled old magaine papers. Here is the final outcome...

Tutorial:

To create this wall hanging I used follwing materials-
1.Old magazine
2.Glue and a pair of scissors
3.A refill and a pencil (to roll paper of 2 different sizes)
4.Embroidery Thread
5.A heart shaped paper (as a guide while making the heart)
6.A cardstock and the Sentiment.

The process is very simple.

Step 1: Cut the magazine page in half vertically.

Step 2:Then take the refill and starting from the bottom corner at a slight angle, roll the paper to the opposite corner. About half way, you may need to adjust the refill so that you don’t roll off one end of it.

Step 3:Once you get it completely rolled, use your glue to tack it to stay. Then slide out the refill.

Step 4:Make a small pile of such rolled pages. And shape them into a heart using hand cut heart as a shape guide, scissors and some glue.

Step 5:Repeating the same process make 4 bigger reeds using pencil to roll the paper. And attach them to the edges of cardstock giving it a framed look. Then connect the heart to the frame with a thread.

Step 6:Finally attach the hand written sentiment and decorate it as you like(I wanted to keep it simple).
