Masculine Birthday Card with Bokeh Technique Tutorial

Good afternoon everyone!

Thank you for leaving such lovely comments on my Tag Birthday Card. They really made my day.

Yesterday was my lucky day because 4 new friends joined my blog. I would love to thank Liz, Seema, Lavina and Patti for the appreciation.

Today's card is also a Birthday Card using Bokeh Technique. The only difference being that I have tried to make it a bit musculine( hope i am successful) and it is nearly CAS. Here is a sneak peak...
Birthday Card

I have made this card for my elder Brother. His 31st Birthday is coming..so this is gonna be his birthday present as I am jobless right now ;P .

And I am also attaching a tutorial on Bokeh Technique. Hoping it will entice you towards trying it..

I am CASing this sketch..

So to make this card I first created a Bokeh bg(tute towards the end). Then took a white sheet and did some embossing. To make the embossed corners I used metal scale and for embossing dots I used a homemade embossing page using "bindis"  ("desi jugaad"-will attach a pic). Then glued the bokeh bg to the sheet and attached a corrugated horizontal sheet over them. Added quilled hat and moustache to give it a musculine look. Finally attached hand-written sentiment over the corrugated sheet.

Here is the final card..

BOKEH TECHNIQUE-Tutorial

Step 1:Attach the watercolor paper to a hard surface using painters tape , so that when you add water the paper doesn't curl.
Bokeh Technique

Step 2: Brush a layer of water over the paper so that when you add colors they clend together easily. Keep in mind that the paper gets wet but not too wet. If the paper gets dry you can also brush some water in between.
Bokeh Technique

Step 3:Add watercolors randomly to the paper and blend them. Try using colors that blend together easily like red and yellow or green and blue. If you find a concentrated patch anywhere you can spray some water with the brush and sponge with a dry clothe.

Step 4: Let it dry. Meanwhile prepare a stencil having three circles of different sizes( if you have stencil like that, no need to worry). You can use acetate sheet and circle punches of 3 different radii. I didn't even have that, so I drew such circles using different caps on a plastic sheet and cut it out. While making the circles make sure they are away from margin as well as from each other.
Bokeh Technique

Step 5:Through the biggest circle apply white paint ok the watercolored paper. You can use sponge for this. But I prefer my finger. Make a few biggest and then bigger circles. While making the smaller ones use a bit concentrated paint so that they appear shining among the bigger ones.
Don't worry about overlapping.

Step 6: Allow it to dry and use it as a bg for your next creation.
